Coach Onboarding & Support Guide

Welcome to Kilmore United FC

At Kilmore United FC, we believe that great coaches are the heart of great teams. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds to get involved and support the development of our players in a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment.

Who Can Coach?

Whether you're a parent, volunteer, former player, or simply passionate about the game, there's a place for you. No prior coaching experience is required – just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Getting Started: Steps to Become a Coach

✅ 1. Express Your Interest

  • Reach out to our club coaching coordinators Conor Roche (Uefa B Qualified) or James (Jazz) Lowry.
  • We'll arrange an informal chat to explore where you might fit best.

✅ 2. Complete Required Certifications

Safeguarding 1 – Basic Awareness Course

  • Live 2-hour online course provided by the FAI.
  • Held regularly throughout the year.
  • Cost: €10, fully reimbursed by Kilmore United FC.
  • Club provides registration links and support.

Garda Vetting through the FAI

  • Must be completed before coaching begins.
  • Entirely online application process.
  • Club will share step-by-step guidance and application links.

Support from the Club

  • Mentoring System
    • New coaches are supported by experienced ones for guidance and feedback.
  • Training Resources
    • Access to session plans, coaching materials, and age-appropriate resources.
  • Workshops & Ongoing Development
    • Info and support for further coaching qualifications (e.g., FAI PDP1, PDP2).
  • Kit & Equipment
    • All coaches receive essential gear and training equipment.

5. Club Expectations & Coaching Philosophy

  • Focus on player development, fun, and inclusivity.
  • Promote respect, teamwork, and positive behaviour.
  • Coaches are expected to follow the Kilmore United FC Code of Conduct.
