Message from the FAI:

Please see below links for upcoming Safeguarding 1 and 2 Courses in the South East. 

Please note all volunteers within Leagues and Clubs must complete the Safeguarding 1 if that League or Club has members that are under the age of 18.

Also the League/Club Children’s Officer must complete the Safeguarding 1 and 2 while the League/Club Chairperson must complete the Safeguarding 1 and 3 (you will find the 3 on My Comet).

It is also important to note that if a volunteer has a valid certificate from another sport (Must be Sport Ireland) you can send that certificate to childwelfare@fai.ie and have it added to your My Comet account.

All Safeguarding Courses must be renewed every three years.  The SG1 can be renewed online once at https://www.sportireland.ie/ethics/safeguarding-1-online-refresher covering the participant for another three years provided that they have a copy of their original certificate and it had not expired at the time of completing the online refresher.  SG2 and 3 courses must be attended every three years.

To attend an FAI Safeguarding 1 you must have valid Garda Vetting in your My Comet Account, and to attend a SG2 or 3, you must have valid vetting and a valid SG1 in your account.

To complete Garda Vetting go to the Book A Course Section of My Comet and scroll to the bottom of the page – (The search bar will not find it because all courses include Garda Vetting in their description).

Under the  Childrens First Act 2015,  any volunteer that does not have valid Garda Vetting or Safeguarding should be stood down until they have fulfilled their safeguarding responsibilities.
