What a day for our U14 squad as they delivered a fantastic performance to secure the league title in style! The team showed resilience, determination, and quality football to cap off a brilliant season.
The match started with a bit of drama as Enniscorthy were awarded an early penalty. Goalkeeper Sean Murphy made a superb save, but the referee ordered a retake, and the opposition captain made no mistake the second time around. Rather than letting this setback affect them, our lads used it as motivation to step up their game.
Straight from the restart, we responded in the best possible way. A well-worked move saw Conor Whelan slot home the equalizer, setting the tone for what was to come. The boys played some excellent attacking football and soon took control of the match. Alan Power struck twice, showing his striker’s instinct, while Logan Kinsella added another to give us a commanding 4-1 lead going into halftime.
The second half was all about game management. The lads kept their composure, defended solidly, and continued to look dangerous on the break. With 15 minutes left, Alan Power completed his hat trick, rounding off a memorable performance with his third goal of the day.
Every single player played a crucial role, not just in today’s victory but throughout the entire season. Their teamwork, spirit, and commitment have been incredible, and this title is a well-deserved reward for all the hard work.
